"But there's bad news for those who prefer to avoid Lennart Poettering's all-encompassing system management suite. As the version 23.5 announcement puts it, it uses: Systemd init on the live session and subsequent installs. Although I personally am ambivalent and apolitical about Linux init systems it is a fact that Enlightenment Desktop Environment is designed, developed and deployed with systemd in mind."
"Since then, there have been about a dozen releases. As Distrowatch describes, it's changed upstream distro a few times: first from Ubuntu to Debian, and then in 2020 to MX Linux. It's switched desktop a few times too, going through Xfce and LXDE phases before settling on Enlightenment. AV Linux 25 uses Enlightenment 0.27.1, the latest point-release following the January release of Enlightenment 27."
AV Linux 25 and MX Moksha 25 are newly released, audio- and music-production-focused distributions built on MX Linux 25 and Debian 13 "Trixie." Both editions include the Liquorix 6.15 kernel and ship Enlightenment-family desktops, with AV Linux 25 using Enlightenment 0.27.1. Live sessions and installed systems default to systemd init, though the Debian init system can be reinstated manually. AV Linux has existed since 2011, migrated upstream from Ubuntu to Debian and then MX Linux, and cycled through Xfce and LXDE before adopting Enlightenment. Enlightenment's versioning and fork situation remain somewhat complex.
