AI is causing developers to abandon Stack Overflow
"Since 2008, millions of developers around the world have found answers to their programming questions on the popular platform Stack Overflow. Recently, however, activity has declined significantly, and in December, only 3,862 questions were asked on Stack Overflow, which is a 78 percent decrease on an annual basis. According to Dev Class, the decline is primarily due to the increased use of AI, but many users have also grown tired of being treated like idiots when they ask questions on Stack Overflow."

Since 2008 millions of developers have used Stack Overflow to find programming answers. Activity has declined significantly in recent times. In December only 3,862 questions were asked, a 78 percent year-over-year decrease. Increased use of AI has been a primary factor in the drop. Many users have also grown tired of hostile or dismissive responses when they ask questions. The combined effect of AI reducing the need to post and negative community interactions has contributed to lower engagement and fewer new questions on the platform.
