"You can use Polecats without the Refinery and even without the Witness or Deacon. Just tell the Mayor to shut down the rig and sling work to the polecats with the message that they are to merge to main directly. Or the polecats can submit MRs and then the Mayor can merge them manually. It's really up to you."
"Many of us got hit by the agent coding addiction. It feels good, we barely sleep, we build amazing things. Every once in a while that interaction involves other humans, and all of a sudden we get a reality check that maybe we overdid it. The most obvious example of this is the massive degradation of quality of issue reports and pull requests."
Polecats can operate without the Refinery, Witness, or Deacon by instructing the Mayor to shut down the rig and have Polecats merge to main directly, or by having Polecats submit merge requests for manual merging. Refineries are useful when extensive up-front specification exists and large quantities of Beads require processing via long convoys. Agent coding can become addictive, driving intense, sleep-deprived work but degrading the quality of issue reports and pull requests. Maintainers face frustration when contributors do not recognize poor contributions. People can form parasocial relationships with memory-enabled agents and create communities that reinforce unhealthy behavior.
