Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) staged a protest at Trader Joe's in Pasadena, where a member glued himself to the poultry section. The protest aimed to highlight concerns regarding Trader Joe's connection to Petaluma Poultry, a supplier accused of animal cruelty. One protester, Ani Kandada, was subsequently arrested after the act, while other members demonstrated in the store. Later that day, another DxE organizer, Carla Cabral, was arrested for gluing herself to the Trader Joe's headquarters desk, facing charges of trespass and vandalism.
One protester yelled through a megaphone while standing on the cash register, "Chickens deserve medical attention," as others chanted, "Just like us," holding signs.
Ani Kandada superglued his hand to the "meat" case at the world's first Trader Joe's in an effort to protest the store's ties to an animal cruelty-exposed supplier.
Local authorities used a spray to dissolve the glue from the protester's hand before putting him in handcuffs and escorting him out of the store.
DxE organizer Carla Cabral was arrested after gluing her hand to the front desk at Trader Joe's headquarters, where she was charged with trespass.
