Silicon Valley civil rights leader sues over sexual harassment claims - San Jose Spotlight
""I'm always watching you wherever you are. I have cameras, I can see where you go - you're always in my eyes and you stand out.""
""It was a kangaroo court," Allen told San José Spotlight. "They let the county and sheriff have three days to present"
Sean Allen, president of NAACP of San Jose/Silicon Valley, was found by a Santa Clara County personnel board to have sexually harassed, intimidated, and bullied a female colleague while working as a correctional officer. The alleged incidents occurred from 2016 to 2018 and included leering, unwanted physical advances, comments about appearance and preferences, and a statement about watching her with cameras. The Sheriff's Office recommended termination in January 2021 and formally fired him in April 2023. The personnel board upheld the firing after a June 2024 appeal hearing that heard nine workplace witnesses. Allen denies the accusations, alleges bias in the proceedings, and is suing the county officials who found the allegations credible.
