Portland's Emergency World Naked Bike Ride Organizers Confirm Time and Location
"We need our city hall, mayor and council members to collectively revoke the ICE facility permit and represent the values of Portland residents,"
"We are using this protest to bring attention to the Militarization of Portland and the ongoing and escalating harm that is happening to our immigrant and indigenous communities," read a combined social post from World Naked Bike Ride, and three other groups: Rainbow Bloc, Revoke the Ice Permit PDX, and NakedHearts:PDX."
"ORS.163 allows this form of protest... The vulnerability of bodies could not be more explicit than seeing our neighbors kidnapped off our streets while at the same time those who protest at the Ice Facility are dealing with being brutalized. This ride is clothing optional. It's your choice how much or little you wear."
Organizers from World Naked Bike Ride and allied local groups are planning an Emergency World Naked Bike Ride in inner Portland on October 12 at 2:30 pm to protest the ICE facility in South Portland and demand revocation of its land use approval. The ride will start at Oregon Convention Center Plaza across NE MLK between NE Pacific and NE Oregon. The protest aims to highlight perceived militarization and escalating harm to immigrant and indigenous communities and cites ORS.163 as permitting the form of protest. Participation is clothing optional and event details spread via social media.
