Operation IFAST Enables the Broadband Industry to Combat Sex Trafficking: Interview
Briefly

Operation IFAST, initiated by Guardian Group, engages the broadband industry to help combat sex trafficking. Chris Lovell, COO of CLtel, learned of the issue following his daughter's cancer diagnosis. Acknowledging the connection between broadband services and trafficking, he stated that victims often report being sold online. Guardian Group, founded in 2010 to counter the sex trafficking problem, relies on a volunteer network to identify victims and aid law enforcement with valuable information.
Chris Lovell expressed the emotional toll of his daughter's cancer diagnosis, stating, 'I needed an outlet to do something. There's very little you can do for your kid who's going through this really hard thing, so I had this pent-up need to do something.' This need drove him to confront the problem of sex trafficking.
Lovell articulated the surprising connection between broadband services and sex trafficking, noting, 'It was heartbreaking and eye-opening to know that the very service that we provide - even with all the good the internet does - is also used for evil.'
