My years reporting on Gaza broke me down. Why did it take so long for the world to become outraged?
Briefly

Experiencing the conflict in Israel and Palestine led to deep disillusionment and self-doubt while reporting on various abuses. Over the years, reporting on atrocities was met with accusations of bias, leading to a realization that people did not want to hear about these issues. This generated a cycle of cynicism among reporters, dulling outrage toward ongoing conflicts such as apartheid and ethnic cleansing. Despite efforts to balance voices, the inability to prompt public outrage has been disheartening.
"I reported on forced displacement and punitive bureaucracy... I wrote about child killings, war crimes and terrorism (perpetrated by both sides)."
"By year three, I had started giving up trying to make them listen and the self-loathing arrived."
