According to the Coast Guard, the agency is supporting a CBP operation involving 100 federal agents. At Dennison Street and Embarcadero, the Oakland entrance to the bridge leading to Coast Guard Island, a Sanctuary Faith Vigil started off a day of demonstrations, according to the San Francisco Bay Area Independent Media Center. The vigil will run from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The vigil has grown into a full-fledged protest, with many carrying signs saying, "No ICE in the Bay Area." Clashes between protesters and agents began as the latter began to arrive; KRON-TV reporters on the scene reported two injuries. Agents allegedly pushed their way through the crowd in white-and-green SUVs with Customs and Border Protection markings, setting off what appeared to be flashbang devices."
"According to KRON-TV, one man's foot was run over by an agent's vehicle, and another man, a pastor, reportedly has a bloody chin. "We're here in peace," Rev. Jorge Bautista said about the agent who allegedly assaulted him. "He didn't care ... Clearly he wanted to cause harm to me." Local advocacy groups have said they plan to protest the rumored arrival of National Guard troops to San Francisco."
