In response to the final report from the Presidential Task Force on Combating Anti-Muslim, Anti-Arab, and Anti-Palestinian Bias, President Alan M. Garber has announced several initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and dialogue within the University community. The focus will be on creating a sense of belonging, revising institutional policies, and enhancing academic environments. Key initiatives include promoting viewpoint diversity and examining the historical context of Muslims, Arabs, and Palestinians at Harvard. Schools are tasked with reviewing recommendations concerning admissions and curricula to uphold academic standards.
Building upon work the University has done over the last 15 months, the new actions include launching a major initiative to promote viewpoint diversity.
President Garber thanked the task force members for pursuing their work with a spirit of openness, empathy, and compassion during a period of unrest within our community.
The actions announced focus on three main areas: nurturing a widespread sense of belonging, revising policies, and strengthening academic life.
Harvard's Schools are actively reviewing task force recommendations concerning admissions, appointments, and curriculum to ensure they uphold the highest standards.
