""She was humiliated and physically confronted while still inside the stall, pulling up her pants, and forced to show ID to 'prove' her sex," Victor wrote in an since-deleted Google review. "'Even after verifying she is a woman, we were both ejected from the event entirely, while shaken, crying, and publicly shamed.'""
""They have lied repeatedly,""
""This outrageous incident at the Liberty Hotel left these two women emotionally shaken, humiliated, and deeply distressed,""
Ansley Baker and her partner Liz Victor were at a Kentucky Derby party at the Liberty Hotel when a security guard banged on a bathroom stall and demanded Baker's ID. Baker was humiliated, physically confronted while pulling up her pants, forced to show ID to 'prove' her sex, and both women were ejected from the event. The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination filed a complaint, finding the women were stereotyped, harassed, and retaliated against after their online complaint. The hotel initially claimed the couple shared a stall and 'put their hands on our security team,' later suspended the guard and acknowledged 'missteps' and agreed to a settlement including a $10,000 charitable donation. The couple deny assaulting staff, their lawyer says the hotel "have lied repeatedly," and the couple plan a civil lawsuit seeking answers and damages.
