
The Barbara Lee Lecture Series presents its 33rd lecture featuring Pastor Tony Lowden, the first and only Black pastor to a U.S. president, President Jimmy Carter, and First Lady Rosalynn Carter. Pastor Lowden is recognized as a national leader in restorative justice and criminal justice reform. His work supports communities in integrating formerly adjudicated individuals into economic, political, and cultural structures of society. The event also includes Mayor Barbara Lee, offering answers to Dr. King’s question, “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?” The lecture is free and requires RSVP at www.mlkfreedomcenter.org. The event takes place May 30 at 3900 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, CA 94609.
