The book "Exploring Topics in Non/Human Coexistence: Passion, Praxis, and Presence" addresses the urgent needs of nonhuman animals in a human-dominated world, advocating for deeper respect and collaboration between humans and animals. Edited by Sarah Tomasello and colleagues, it brings together diverse perspectives highlighting the necessity of ongoing multispecies negotiations. Emphasizing an integrated approach that fuses academic insights with grassroots support, the collection invites readers to rethink their assumptions about coexistence and empowers them to take actionable steps in fostering a reality where both humans and animals can thrive together.
The idea for this book came after hosting a conference for Students for Critical Animal Studies, where we sought to challenge paradigms of coexistence and address urgent needs for the future.
Meaningful work on behalf of other animals requires collaboration between academics and activists, emphasizing the importance of multispecies negotiations and respect for each animal's needs.
