"I had a good chat with Jimmy last week. The time is right for him and his family. He always wanted to settle back in his hometown and he has the opportunity to finish his career there."
"He's been a great servant to the club, and we've really enjoyed working with him. He's been an important player over the last few years for us, with his drive, determination, mentality, and his professionalism, and we wish him and his family all the best."
Wrexham and club captain Jimmy McClean have mutually agreed to part ways, with McClean signing for Derry City. The 36-year-old joined Wrexham in 2023 and was a regular starter during consecutive promotions from League Two to the Championship, making 95 league appearances over two-and-a-half years. He returns to Derry City in the Irish top flight, where he began his career and will reunite with younger brother Patrick. Manager Phil Parkinson said the move allows McClean to settle in his hometown and finish his career, praising his drive, determination, mentality and professionalism. McClean previously played in the Premier League and earned 103 Ireland caps.
