Wiegman first woman to be named Dutch coach of the year
"I hope I can be an inspiration to a lot of people especially girls and women, wrote Wiegman on Instagram."
"Especially the women who like coaches, I'd like to challenge to do it!"
"Go after your dreams, Wiegman added. It's such a beautiful profession: connecting people, getting the best out of yourself and your team, at any level."
Sarina Wiegman, 56, was honoured as the first woman named Dutch Coach of the Year at a sports gala in Arnhem. She also won best women's coach at the FIFA Best Awards for a fifth time and the women's coach of the year at the 2025 Ballon d'Or awards. Wiegman became England manager in 2021 and led the Lionesses to European Championship victories in 2022 and 2025. She previously won the Euros with the Netherlands in 2017 and guided England to the 2023 World Cup final. She said she hopes to inspire girls and women and encouraged women interested in coaching to pursue the role.
