'Who's going to get this fine?' - Arteta on derby technology delays
"It appears that the assistant referee on the far side, Blake Antrobus, had an issue with his battery pack, which is worn on the arm. It's important that the match officials can hear each other as they are in constant communication throughout the match. The game would therefore be stopped until a Hawk Eye operator can get to pitch side to the assistant referee to fix the communication issue."
"Every time we are [late] out of the dressing room, we get huge fines,"
"So, I said to them who's going to get this fine because that's six, seven, eight, nine minutes? So, yeah, we've got one in the bag now."
"an absolute shambles"
Arsenal beat Tottenham 4-1 in the North London derby. Play was halted twice because of communication problems among match officials. The first-half stoppage lasted over five minutes after assistant referee Blake Antrobus experienced a battery-pack fault that prevented him from communicating with referee Peter Bankes and other officials. The second-half start was also delayed for several minutes. The Arsenal manager raised concerns about fines for delayed dressing-room exits after the accumulated delays. A TV pundit called the incidents "an absolute shambles." A former referee explained that play cannot resume until a Hawk Eye operator reaches pitch side to repair the equipment; Hawk Eye has not yet responded to requests for comment.
