What is the Fifa Peace Prize?
""In an increasingly unsettled and divided world, it is fundamental to recognise the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in a spirit of peace," Infantino said in a Fifa statement. Infantino added that football "stands for peace" and that the award will "recognise the enormous efforts of those individuals who unite people, bringing hope for future generations"."
""We have a great relationship," Infantino said. "I'm really lucky. I have a great relationship with President Trump, where I consider him a really close friend." Trump missed out on the Nobel Peace Prize last month, which was awarded to Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado. A White House official said the Nobel committee "place politics over peace". Fifa is yet to announce the winner and Infantino refused to say that Trump will be announced as the recipient in December."
FIFA has created an annual Peace Prize to recognise individuals who take exceptional actions for peace and unite people across the world. The first award will be presented by FIFA president Gianni Infantino on 5 December during the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington DC. Infantino said recognising those who work to end conflicts and bring people together is fundamental in an unsettled, divided world, and described football as standing for peace. Infantino noted the prize will acknowledge enormous efforts that bring hope for future generations. FIFA has not yet announced the inaugural winner.
