Walsall sack head coach Sadler after Salford defeat
"Walsall were four points clear at the top of the table in early December, but a run of two wins in 14 since Boxing Day has left them 11th in the table, three points outside the top seven with 10 games remaining."
"I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the significant efforts and contributions of Mat, both as a professional and as a person, during his time at the club. We thank him for his dedicated service and wish him the very best for the future."
Walsall dismissed head coach Mat Sadler following a 1-0 defeat to Salford City, marking their third consecutive loss and extending their poor form to one win in 11 matches. The club's dramatic decline saw them drop from four points clear at the top in early December to 11th place, three points outside the play-off positions. Since Boxing Day, Walsall won only two matches in 14 games, severely damaging their promotion hopes. Sadler, a former club defender, had managed Walsall for nearly three years after receiving a permanent appointment in May 2023. Darren Byfield assumed interim control with support from Terry Connor and the existing backroom staff.
