Diablo in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs on Tuesday. Calder Corson, Berkeley soccer: Corson scored a goal and had an assist in Berkeley's 5-0 win over Bishop O'Dowd. Berkeley will host Ygnacio Valley in the first round of the NCS Division I playoffs on Wednesday."
A weekly Athlete of the Week poll invites public voting through 5 p.m. Wednesday, with unlimited votes allowed except by bots or other artificial means. Votes by email and votes received after the deadline are not counted. Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print editions of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections. Nominations may be sent to highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com until 11 a.m. each Monday. Submitted statistics from coaches and team statisticians are reviewed. Nominees for Feb. 9–14 include standout performers in soccer and basketball with game results and playoff information listed.
