Flamengo does not presently have the financial capacity to bring Vinícius Júnior back to the club. The club paid €42 million to sign Lucas Paquetá, the most expensive transfer in the history of North and South American football. Vinícius left Flamengo for Real Madrid in 2018 for a reported €45 million and would command a significantly higher salary today. Vinícius has expressed a desire to remain at Real Madrid beyond 2027, though contract-extension talks have stalled. Flamengo welcomes him if he returns to Brazil, but his current life and family situation in Europe make a move unlikely now.
