Raheem Sterling signed a short-term deal with Feyenoord until the end of the season on a free transfer after mutually terminating his contract with Chelsea. The 31-year-old had not played competitively since May 25 of the previous year. Feyenoord head coach Robin van Persie said Sterling chose the club to regain the joy of playing and that the move has given a boost across the club, visible in training. Van Persie cited their relationship and mutual belief as factors in Sterling’s decision and expects the club to help him find happiness and form again.
