"Truly incredible and sensational. It's something that's hard to explain. You have to experience it. It's very impactful, no doubt, not only for me, but for everyone who was there. It was truly surreal, and it definitely gives you extra energy and motivation."
"If you ask me whether I expected [to win], of course I did. In my life, I've always thought about winning titles, I've always thought big. I am very grateful to Flamengo. The club has given the coach the chance to fight for titles, thanks to the quality, investment and organisation it has. Today, we were able to play a Libertadores final, and I feel privileged."
Jorginho revelled in Flamengo's truly incredible and sensational Copa Libertadores triumph and added more silverware to his collection. The 33-year-old former Italy international won his first honour with Flamengo after joining in June from Arsenal. Flamengo edged Palmeiras 1-0 in Lima with Danilo scoring the only goal, securing the club's fourth Copa title and making them the most successful Brazilian side in the competition. Jorginho has previously won the European Championship, Champions League, Club World Cup and Europa League and became the 18th player to win both the Champions League and Copa Libertadores. Filipe Luis won the competition as both player and coach and credited Flamengo's quality, investment and organisation for the opportunity.
