Transfer rumors, news: Salah out, Elliott back in at Liverpool?
"Liverpool could cover for any potential exit for Mohamed Salah in the January transfer window by Harvey Elliott returning to the club, TEAMtalk reports. Salah's future at Anfield is looking very uncertain after telling reporters last Saturday that he felt the club had "thrown him under the bus" for leaving him out of the team amid their poor run of form."
"Meanwhile, Liverpool attacking midfielder Elliott's loan move at Aston Villa has so far not worked out. The 22-year-old has made just three Premier League appearances since moving to Villa Park, and manager Unai Emery said this week that talks are ongoing with the player. TEAMtalk reports that Villa are willing to send Elliott back to Anfield, and do not intend for him to make the 10 league appearances this season that would trigger a clause to sign him permanently for £35 million."
Harvey Elliott could return to Liverpool in January to cover a potential Mohamed Salah departure. Salah said he felt the club had "thrown him under the bus" after being left out amid a poor run of form. Saudi Pro League clubs have long targeted Salah, with their transfer window opening on Jan. 1. Elliott's loan at Aston Villa has produced only three Premier League appearances, and Villa are willing to send him back to Anfield while avoiding a clause that would trigger a £35 million permanent transfer. Elliott is a left-footed attacker who can operate on the right and could fit Arne Slot's squad. Bayern Munich's transfer chief plans to speak personally with a Crystal Palace defender. San Diego FC are not expected to pursue Salah in January.
