"This is your peace prize,"
"It is also a beautiful medal that you can wear everywhere you want to go."
"We saved millions and millions of lives... The fact that we could do that, in India, Pakistan, so many different wars that we were able to end, in some cases, a little bit before they started, just right before they started ... but we got them done."
"reward individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world... [and] championed the unifying power of football on the world stage,"
Gianni Infantino presented Donald Trump with FIFA’s newly created FIFA Peace Prize at the Kennedy Center during the 2026 World Cup Final Draw in Washington, D.C. Trump said his actions “saved millions and millions of lives” and claimed credit for ending multiple wars, sometimes preventing conflicts before they began. The specific conflicts referenced were unclear; Trump has previously claimed to have “ended eight wars in just 8 months,” including a claimed Cambodia-Armenia conflict that did not exist. In May, Trump announced a “full and immediate ceasefire” between India and Pakistan; Pakistan thanked him while India credited its own military talks. FIFA said the award rewards exceptional actions for peace and the unifying power of football.
