David Martindale moved into a sporting director role following a 2-0 home defeat that left Livingston six points adrift at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership. Marvin Bartley learned of the change on Sunday morning when he arrived for training and accepted promotion from first-team coach to manager, with his first match at home to Falkirk on Wednesday. Bartley previously captained the club, served as assistant manager, and spent 16 months in charge of Queen of the South before returning as a coach. Bartley says a fresh voice and approach are needed and that results must be picked up very quickly; he accepts ultimate responsibility for preparing the players.
