Tebas: Yamal only denied Ballon d'Or due to age
"If he had been older than 23, he would have won it, too, I'm sure, but since he was younger, they gave him the other one [Kopa trophy],"
"keep on working to win other awards in the future."
"If he continues at the level he's at, which seems likely, I think there's no doubt he'll win the Ba"
Javier Tebas believes age cost Lamine Yamal the Ballon d'Or and expects him to win it soon. Yamal, who turned 18 in July, finished second to Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé in the Ballon d'Or voting while becoming the only multiple-time Kopa Trophy winner for players under 21. Dembélé scored 35 goals in 53 appearances as PSG won a treble including their first Champions League. Yamal scored 18 goals in 55 games as Barcelona won LaLiga, the Spanish Supercopa and the Copa del Rey, and he won Young Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024.
