Sweden boss on Isak absence: 'Risk too great'
""He had only done three training sessions with the team," Tomasson told Viaplay after the match. "He had no preseason with the team and of course no playing time. "The risk was probably a bit too great to use him today.""
""Hopefully, hopefully. As a game-changer.""
Alexander Isak missed Sweden's starting lineup for the 2-2 draw with Slovenia because he lacked match fitness after missing Newcastle preseason and opening Premier League matches while pursuing a move to Liverpool. The transfer to Liverpool completed on deadline day for a British-record £125 million. Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson said Isak had only completed three training sessions with the squad and had no recent playing time, making him too risky to play. Tomasson said Isak could potentially feature against Kosovo on Monday as a game-changer. Anthony Elanga scored and Benjamin Sesko provided an assist.
