"I'm excited to get started and proud to be part of this fantastic club. It's a club with a unique history, incredible passion, resilience, and, of course, loyal supporters who want to see this team play well and be successful. We have an exciting group of players and clear, ambitious objectives for the season. My focus is on working hard with the squad to give everything for the club's success."
"I am very happy to welcome Gary O'Neil to Racing. He is a demanding and respected coach, with a modern approach to football that fits perfectly with our sporting project."
Gary O'Neil has been appointed head coach of Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace, succeeding Liam Rosenior who left for Chelsea. The 42-year-old former Bournemouth and Wolves manager had been out of work since leaving Wolves in December 2024. Strasbourg sit seventh in Ligue 1 at the time of the appointment. O'Neil will oversee his first training session on Thursday and lead the team in a Coupe de France match against Avranches two days later. O'Neil expressed excitement and pride, cited the club's history, passionate supporters and ambitious objectives, while club president Marc Keller praised his modern approach.
