Occasional euphoria over the Eagles is undermined by unnecessary coach changes, coach-player arguments, and omission of deserving players, and by generally slow, unattractive football. Coach Dragan Piksi Stojkovic was an outstanding player but is viewed as luckier than smarter as a manager. Serbia qualified for major tournaments under him, yet tournament performances remained below expectations.
