The extension was completed before Charlotte's 2026 season opener at St. Louis City. General manager Zoran Krneta praised Toklomati's development and described the extension as part of long-term roster building aimed at winning trophies. Charlotte exited the 2025 playoffs in the first round to New York City FC.
