Spirit thrash Invincibles to boost knockout hopes

London Spirit strengthened their chances of reaching The Hundred knockouts with an eight-wicket win over Oval Invincibles. Spirit bowlers and fielders dominated, with captain Charlie Dean and seamer Eva Gray each taking 2-12. Oval Invincibles, already eliminated, posted 108-8 from 100 balls. Kira Chathli scored 53 off 29 balls and Georgia Redmayne made 42 off 30 to steer Spirit to victory. Chathli reached a 26-ball half-century including a six before falling with two runs required. Charli Knott finished the chase with 38 balls remaining. The result moved Spirit four points clear of Manchester Originals and ended Trent Rockets' hopes of reaching the eliminator.

The already-eliminated Invincibles limped to 108-8 from their 100 balls before Kira Chathli and Georgia Redmayne powered Spirit to the win.
Chathli - who initially went unsold in the draft - continued her fine campaign and brought up a 26-ball half-century with a six. She fell for 53 from 29 balls with just two needed, moments after Redmayne, who made 42 from 30, had also been dismissed, but Charli Knott finished the job for Spirit with a whopping 38 balls to spare.
