Casey Murphy signed with 2026 NWSL expansion team Boston Legacy FC as an impending free agent whose North Carolina Courage contract expires at season's end. North Carolina made offers to retain her. Murphy has 20 USWNT caps and served as backup goalkeeper to Alyssa Naeher at the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics, where the USWNT won gold. In Boston she is expected to become the expansion team's long-term No. 1 while seeking to reenter the USWNT rotation ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
