Shrewsbury stand-in role 'a lot of fun' for Hart
"It was a lot of fun. I know the goalkeeper coach situation at the moment and, obviously, I'm very close with Gav. I wanted to come in and help. I wanted to use everything that I've amassed over the years, but at the same time I totally respect what the boys are building here and I'm not going to be a part of it come tomorrow."
"When the opportunity came and they asked, I put myself forward to be there for Coxie and Will tonight. I'm just absolutely honoured and delighted that I could come and do it and that we enjoyed a successful evening."
Joe Hart, a 38-year-old former England international and Match of the Day pundit, served as a temporary goalkeeper coach for Shrewsbury Town during their victory at Salford City. Hart began his career at Shrewsbury in 2003 before joining Manchester City at age 19, where he won two Premier League titles, two League Cups, and an FA Cup. He later won three Scottish Premiership titles and four cup competitions with Celtic. When manager Gavin Cowan, a former teammate, asked if Hart knew anyone suitable for the vacant coaching position, Hart volunteered himself for the one-night assignment. Hart focused on supporting 22-year-old Matthew Cox, a Brentford loanee, and substitute goalkeeper Will Brook, drawing on his extensive career experience to benefit the resurgent League Two side.
