"The decision that he wouldn't play for Sevilla is mine,"
"It is inconceivable that he could become the owner of Sevilla while playing for the club. It couldn't be that the owner of the club was being trained by Almeyda."
"We have no room with the salary and he could not have played for Sevilla for free," Del Nido added. "The decision is mine."
Jose Maria Del Nido Carrasco vetoed Sergio Ramos re-signing for Sevilla while Ramos pursues a consortium buyout of the club. Ramos offered to play for free to help lift Sevilla up the LaLiga table, but LaLiga rules require a minimum salary of €195,000 and Sevilla lack budget space and salary-cap room. Sevilla sit three points above the relegation zone with one win in seven matches and face heavy debts. Del Nido said it would be inconceivable for a club owner to play under coach Matias Almeyda and stated he is following a roadmap with a clear conscience despite hostile fan chants.
