Egypt adopted an overly cautious approach and failed to register a meaningful effort until the final ten minutes. The first half saw two bookings that would rule Hossam Abdelmaguid and Kalidou Koulibaly out of a potential final, and Koulibaly was later replaced with an apparent groin injury.
