""The organisation from top to bottom, the coaches, everybody, they deserve this. The fans deserve this win. Because it's been 20-some odd years since I've been with the club, and then you sprinkle in a couple of years when I was 17, 19, 20 - so it might even be 25. I'll have to do the maths. Seattle Sounders defeated Inter Miami 3-0 to win the Leagues Cup, highlighted by Alex Roldan's goal, two assists and an 84th-minute penalty. Roldan set up goals for Osaze De Rosario and Paul Rothrock. Lionel Messi had five shots and led attempted dribbles but failed to produce a decisive contribution. Luis Suarez created second-half chances but could not convert and faces scrutiny over an apparent spitting incident involving a Seattle staff member. The title is the Sounders' ninth since joining MLS and their first trophy in three years. Brian Schmetzer credited long-term leadership and organisational effort for the success.
