San Jose State faces major challenge vs. No. 7 Texas, Arch Manning
"(I told Eget) you're our quarterback, you're our leader and you will bounce back,"
"It's a tough position. You can't play that position unless you have thick skin."
"We're going to have to play our very best to even have a shot,"
"This is a team that's got a chance to go to the playoffs. We have to play lights out."
Walker Eget apologized to coach Ken Niumatalolo and vowed to play better after a 16-14 season-opening loss to Central Michigan. Niumatalolo expressed confidence that Eget will bounce back and called the quarterback position one that requires thick skin. Eget threw two touchdowns and passed for 308 yards while committing two interceptions and losing a fumble. San Jose State enters Saturday morning as a 36.5-point underdog against No. 7 Texas, which is expected to draw over 100,000 fans. Texas is coming off a 14-7 loss to Ohio State that tempered Arch Manning's Heisman momentum. San Jose State has never beaten a top-8 team.
