Roseniors Chelsea appointment an inspiration to young coaches everywhere, says McFarlane - Soccer News
"I am sure it will be a really good connection. Cobham is part of this club and part of the history of this club. It is something the club is proud of. It is in the DNA. I know it is something the sporting directors are proud of and it is part of our job to make Liam's job difficult in terms of bringing more players into the first team."
"I'm sure all young English coaches from an academy background will be, in some way, rooting for Liam,"
"It is really inspirational for young academy coaches to see that and we hope he does really well."
Liam Rosenior has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract to become Chelsea head coach after leaving Strasbourg, and will take charge after the Fulham derby and before an FA Cup tie against Charlton Athletic. Rosenior was recently sacked by Hull City in 2024 for failing to reach the Championship play-offs. Chelsea Under-21 head coach Calum McFarlane called Rosenior's return to England inspirational for young academy coaches and predicted a strong connection between the first team and the Cobham youth setup. Chelsea aim to secure three points to close the gap to fourth-placed Liverpool while Fulham remain close behind in the Premier League table.
