Reyna leaves Dortmund for fresh start at Gladbach

Gio Reyna has completed a transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Borussia Mönchengladbach, signing a three-year contract through summer 2028. The 22-year-old ends a six-year spell at Dortmund where he progressed from New York City FC's academy. Persistent injuries and limited first-team minutes stalled his early promise; he made only three Bundesliga starts last season and a single 12-minute substitute appearance at the Club World Cup, causing him to miss the U.S. Gold Cup. Reyna has 32 caps and eight goals for the USMNT. The move seeks to rejuvenate his club form and bolster his chances for a spot in next summer's World Cup. Gladbach finished 10th last season and begin the new campaign at home to Hamburg.
