Bayern Munich sold 19-year-old Nestory Irankunda to Watford for €3 million while including a buy-back clause valued at €4.5–5 million. Irankunda previously impressed for Adelaide in Australia's A-League and spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Grasshopper Club Zurich before moving to England. He is receiving a fair amount of playing time at Watford, which is currently struggling in the Championship and unlikely to contend for promotion soon. England's second tier can still aid young-player development. If Irankunda improves and Bayern finds a roster opening, the club could reacquire him relatively cheaply. Bayern's wide-area lineup has been in flux after recent departures and arrivals.
"Bayern Munich sold youngster Nestory Irankunda this summer to Watford, but nested in the deal was a favorable buy-back option for the Bavarians. That's according to a report from Sport Bild, as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER: Bayern has a buy-back clause for Nestory Irankunda of 4.5-5 million €. He was sold to FC Watford in the summer for 3 million €. [Bayern-Insider, @cfbayern, @altobelli13]"
"Irankunda, 19, caught the eye with his performances for Adelaide in Australia's A-League before his move to Germany, but spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Grasshopper Club Zurich before leaving for England. He's playing a fair amount for Watford, though his club is currently floundering in the Championship division and certainly do not appear to be promotion candidates any time soon."
