An esteemed panel of writers, journalists, analysts and football experts ranked the 25 best footballers worldwide using aggregated scores from positional lists and a point scale from 40 to 15. Players were evaluated on current technical and physical ability and on standing over the past 12–18 months, with positional parity ensured so goalkeepers and outfielders carried equal weight. Minimal statistical metrics supplemented subjective assessments, generating a longlist of almost 200 players that was trimmed to 100. The countdown orders the top 100, beginning at number 100 with Mohammed Kudus and noting recent transfers and club impact.
