Ramsey joins Mexican side Pumas after leaving Cardiff - Soccer News
Briefly

Aaron Ramsey has signed a one-year deal with Liga MX club Pumas UNAM after departing Cardiff City. Having rejoined Cardiff City in 2023 and briefly serving as interim manager, he could not prevent the team's relegation from the Championship. His contract with Cardiff expired in June. Excited about his new challenge in the Mexican league, Ramsey aims to contribute significantly to Pumas this season. Additionally, he aspires to lead the Welsh national team at the 2026 World Cup, with Wales currently positioned second in their qualification group.
Upon sealing his move to Pumas, Ramsey said: "I've played with some players who understand the Mexican league and had conversations in the past with them. This league is very technical, great players have been produced, the national team is very good. I'm really excited by the challenge. I've experienced a lot of things in my career and that puts me in a good place going forward. I realise the expectation on this club and I'm here to play my part and help deliver the things we want to this season."
Ramsey has not featured for his country since September 2024 but hopes to lead them to the 2026 World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Wales are currently second in their qualification group, a point behind North Macedonia, though Belgium - who are three points further back - have two games in hand.
