'Quite cute' and 'in sync' - the father-son duo in non-league dugout
"Football is littered with fathers and sons who have pulled on the same shirts for the same clubs during their playing careers, or sons who have played under their manager fathers professionally. But how many father-son duos can claim to have managed a team together? It is what helps make Craig and his son Scott Laird, co-managers of ninth-tier outfit Street FC, unique."
"The pair were appointed last month by the Western League Premier Division side following the departure of former manager Ben Watson. "For Scott and I to be able to do this is fantastic, it's a dream come true," Craig told BBC Radio Somerset. "Not many fathers get the opportunity to work with their sons in any type of work, let alone football, so it's fantastic. I'm just really proud.""
Craig Laird and his son Scott Laird were appointed co-managers of ninth-tier Street FC in the Western League Premier Division after former manager Ben Watson departed. Scott, 37, had been a player and assistant manager at the club for 18 months. Craig has prior non-league managerial experience and worked at Plymouth Argyle. Scott enjoyed a lengthy EFL career, notably winning promotion to the Championship with Preston in 2015. Scott has three football-playing brothers. The co-managers seek to implement a shared philosophy and mindset. Early tenure results include one win, one draw, and one loss.
