Christian Pulisic has clarified his absence from the CONCACAF Gold Cup, emphasizing that he expressed willingness to play in friendlies but was turned down by U.S. coaches who preferred a single roster for all games. He addressed concerns about his commitment, asserting that such doubts were unjust. Pulisic explained that he made a decision to prioritize his health and preparation for the World Cup, as he had played extensively for AC Milan and the national team. The U.S. faced defeats in recent friendlies, further complicating their Gold Cup campaign.
"I did want to be a part of at least the two friendlies. I did speak with the coaches and I asked and I wanted to be part of the team in whatever capacity I could and they said no."
"...to question my commitment especially toward the national team, in my opinion that's way out of line," Pulisic said during an interview.
