"[How he] reads the game and finds the free space in between the lines, I think that was a nightmare for Paraguay, and I think he did a very good job."
"He scored, he did a very good job. So happy with him."
"It was a perfect week, just honestly happy to be back, playing with this group, with this staff and a little gift for myself [with the goal]."
Giovanni Reyna scored and assisted in the United States' 2-1 victory over Paraguay at Subaru Park, heading in a fourth-minute cross from Max Arfsten and helping set up the 71st-minute winner that deflected to Folarin Balogun. Mauricio Pochettino praised Reyna’s ability to read the game and find space between the lines, calling him a nightmare for Paraguay. Reyna made his first start for the national team since July 2024 and his first start for club or country since Sept. 14. Pochettino emphasized that Reyna needs more regular club minutes with three U.S. games before the 2026 roster is named.
