U.S. men's national team coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed openness to using different goalkeepers in upcoming matches, particularly given Matt Turner's lack of recent playtime. Turner hasn't played since a March defeat in the Concacaf Nations League and has been largely sidelined at his club, Crystal Palace. With friendlies against Turkey and Switzerland upcoming, and the Gold Cup beginning mid-June, Pochettino emphasized the need for competitive playing time, warning that Turner might fall behind his peers if his situation doesn't improve.
I think it's true that [Turner is] not playing and we were talking with him... I think he needs to find the way to compete every week.
It's open now in our mind, it's open for another player maybe to challenge in between [the goalkeepers]... to give the possibility to play [to] another player.
