Bradley Carnell won the 2025 Sigi Schmid MLS Coach of the Year after guiding Philadelphia Union to the Supporters' Shield. Carnell received 37.78% of the weighted vote, ahead of Vancouver's Jesper Sorensen (26.53%) and San Diego's Mikey Varas (19.82%). Philadelphia posted the largest points increase from 2024 (+29), six more than the next-closest club. Carnell emphasized collective buy-in, belief and conviction in players as keys to the club's dominance. Carnell earned the nickname "Pit Bull" as a player at VfB Stuttgart, began coaching as a New York Red Bulls assistant in 2017, served as interim manager in 2020, and was St. Louis City SC's first manager.
