Palmer out for up to six weeks as Maresca admits I was wrong - Soccer News
"Unfortunately, he needs to be out for six more weeks. This is the update."
"The medical staff are not magicians. You need six weeks, and we hope six weeks will be enough. A problem we need to see step by step, week by week. He looks very good. Relaxed. Trying to recover."
"To replace Cole, it is difficult. Cole is a very important player for us. One of the best players in Premier League, so he is always difficult to replace. With what we have, it depends on game plan. Against Liverpool, it was [Malo] Gusto. Against Benfica, it was Enzo [Fernandez]. We have to find another player with different qualities because we don't have a player like Cole - he is unique."
Cole Palmer will be sidelined for around six weeks after aggravating a groin issue originally sustained in August. He returned to score against Brentford and Bayern Munich before re-aggravating the problem against Manchester United and has been absent since. Surgery will not be required and recovery will proceed cautiously on a week-by-week basis. Palmer has missed seven Premier League games since joining Chelsea in 2023; the team lost three of those matches and average goals per game fell from 1.9 with him to 1.7 without him. Chelsea have adjusted roles but lack a direct replacement with Palmer’s qualities.
