Palace fan gets tattoo of 5 Live FA Cup final commentary
"What a moment for all of South London, the scenes in the stands here, the flags, the celebrations, I swear you can hear half of Wembley shaking right now."
"It is just the words, listening to them you get goosebumps. Your team has won the FA Cup and you want to get a tattoo on yourself to remember that. Three or four days after the final, I heard the words on the [5 Live] video that went up on Facebook, it has stuck with me ever since."
"It almost brought a tear to my eye, it is all about the achievement for Crystal Palace and that is the crowning moment. As a commentator on the radio you try and put into words what it means to the people watching - like Lewis - the emotions they would be feeling. In those moments you can't prepare for that and it is something that spills out of your mouth."
Crystal Palace won its first major trophy when Eberechi Eze scored the only goal to secure a shock 1-0 FA Cup victory over Manchester City. A supporter, Lewis Carey, tattooed his entire calf with commentator John Murray's immediate post-match BBC Radio 5 Live words to immortalize the moment and the Wembley celebrations. Carey said the commentary gives him goosebumps and that he replayed a 5 Live video days later. He shared the tattoo with fellow commentator Ian Dennis, who passed it on to Murray. Murray described the lines as nearly tear-inducing and spoke about capturing fans' emotions in the moment.
