O'Neill previously led the team for eight games this season, winning seven, including all five Premiership matches. O'Neill won league titles with Celtic in 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2003-04. Celtic sit second after 20 matches, six points behind Hearts and level with Rangers, with six Premiership defeats so far.
